A 2.97% reduction in LCOE highlights the advantages of Trina Solar’s 210mm n-type modules, according to industry experts

Industry experts from BloombergNEF, Trina Solar, PV power station developers, EPC, and design institutes discussed the trends and applications of cutting-edge PV technology in a panel discussion titled “210mm n-type technology outlook”. They agreed that the 210mm n-type solution that fulfills customers' scenario-based needs and adheres to the "LCOE-oriented principle" will propel the industry into a new age of high efficiency n-type modules. It is estimated that LCOE of a power plant using Trina Solar’s Vertex N modules is down by 2.97%.

The "LCOE-oriented principle" and scenario-based products have become a trend

Given the broad market space and volatile raw material prices, Cai Lihua from Shenneng New Energy believes that future problems for project owners would be resource utilization, profitability guarantee, maintenance and operation of power stations. PV modules with high power, efficiency, energy yield and reliability enable power stations to make full use of solar energy and land resources, improve overall energy yield, reduce O&M costs, and ensure the project’s long-term advantages.

More application scenarios such as deserts, Gobi and water surfaces open up new possibilities as PV projects are implemented further. According to Jiang Jian from Sungrow, there is a scarcity of products that meet various reliability standards in diverse application scenarios for EPC or power station developers. He also praises Trina Solar as a leader in the PV industry and he believes that Trina Solar's 210mm n-type full-scenario-based solutions will continue to create greater values for users.

Higher values are created for the systems by 210mm n-type scenario-based solutions with lower degradation and LCOE lowered by 2.97%

Trina Solar's 210mm n-type scenario-based solutions are tailored to diverse scenarios, with lower BOS costs and LCOE to maximize customer value.

Zhang Heming from East China Electric Power Design Institute uses a collection of data to illustrate the contribution of n-type modules to the project's energy yield. The energy yield of n-type modules increases by 2% thanks to the low temperature coefficient. Meanwhile, due to the high bifaciality, the energy yield of n-type modules increases by 1% in low reflectivity application scenarios such as fishery PV and mudflats. With excellent low light performance, the power station’s energy yield is up by 0.2% during low light hours. In addition, the first-year degradation rate of n-type modules is 1%, while the linear degradation rate is 0.4% year by year. As a result, the project’s overall energy yield is guaranteed.

And it has been calculated that n-type modules boast extremely high system values. Take the 100MW utility power station in Brazil as an example. When using Vertex n-type 66-cell modules and trackers rather than conventional 182mm n-type 72-cell modules, project CAPEX is reduced by 2.44% and LCOE by 2.97%.
