The Trina Solar team in Asia Pacific had a busy 2019 that included meeting with customers at key industry events in the region.

Here is a recap of some of the major regional events we attended:

The Solar Show – Ho Chi Minh City

3 April – 4 April

We exhibited at The Solar Show because Vietnam is one of the fastest growing renewable energy markets in the world with several large-scale utility projects underway.

Trina Solar also has a strong presence in Vietnam because we have been supplying high-efficiency modules to many of the country’s utility projects. And we manufacture modules at our factory in the province of Bac Giang, north of Hanoi. The factory has more than one gigawatt of production capacity and employs more than 1,000 people.

At The Solar Show, we promoted our full-suite of solar solutions, including our new high-efficiency modules that have more than 400 watt power. We have dedicated sales and customer support personnel for the Vietnam market, but for the tradeshow we also had some of our top management from the region attend. We value the opportunity to meet with our customers so we can respond to customer needs.

International Green Energy Expo – Daegu, South Korea

3 April – 5 April

We attended the Overseas PV Business Promotion Day in Seoul on 21 March, before heading to the expo in the southern city of Daegu.

Korea is a very dynamic market and one that has a high adoption of renewable energy and is very receptive to new technologies.

Seoul’s municipal government recently announced that by 2022 every public building in Seoul and one million homes are to be powered by solar.

Trina Solar has been active in Korea for more than a decade and some of our suppliers are Korean, namely Samsung and solar materials manufacturer OCI.

We participated in tradeshows in Korea last year because it is a significant market and some of our suppliers are based there. We very much appreciate the opportunity to meet with our customers face-to-face and stay abreast with the latest trends in the industry.

The Solar Show – Manila

22-23 May

We participated in this conference and exhibition as well as organized some workshops for installers in the Philippines.

Trina Solar believes in providing training so we can equip customers with the right knowledge. We also take the opportunity to receive feedback from our customers, so we can continue to optimize the performance of our product offering and stay ahead of the competition.

The Philippines has several large-scale utility projects that we have participated in plus we are also active in the commercial and industrial (C&I) segment.

Trina Solar Philippine country manager, Junrhey Castro, spoke at the conference and gave a presentation promoting TrinaPro, the company’s integrated ‘all-in-one solution’ for the utility sector. TrinaPro is an integrated solution that includes the: modules, inverters, trackers and mounting system.

In more recent times, Trina Solar has moved into the residential segment with Trinahome which has meant we have been helping our local distributors to provide training to installers. The performance of solar installations depends on the quality of the installation work.

Renewable Energy India Expo – Noida, India

18 September – 19 September

The third largest solar energy market in Asia Pacific is India and we are the biggest player there.

At the Renewable Energy India (REI), we announced that we had become the first PV manufacturer to have more than 4GW of modules in India.  We have been involved in many large-scale utility projects in India. The bigger installations are often in the southern part of the country, in states such as Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Trina Solar has also seen strong growth in India’s commercial and industrial segment. Many businesses from the textile, pharmaceutical, chemical, logistics and IT industries are installing 50-500kW rooftop and ground-mount installations.

We exhibit each year at REI, because it is the biggest renewable energy show in India. The event is a great opportunity to meet with customers and key players in the industry.

The event is also an opportunity to stay up to date with key developments in India’s renewable energy industry, as government policies applicable to the sector are often announced to coincide with REI.

All-Energy Australia – Melbourne

23 October – 24 October

We participated in the All-Energy Australia trade show which attracts distributors, EPCs and other customers from around Australasia. EPC refers to companies involved in the engineering, procurement and construction of solar projects.

Australia is a relatively mature market where people have a high degree of knowledge about solar energy and the various products available in the market.

We value exhibiting at All-Energy Australia because it is an opportunity to meet with our customers, receive valuable feedback and share ideas.

At the 2019 show we showcased our full range of products, especially our top sellers:

  • DuoMax N, a bifacial module that uses a leading technology that Trina Solar pioneered called i-TOPCon. The module n-type cells use multi-busbar and half-cut technology.
  • HoneyBlack M is a module that uses black backsheet and black frame giving a full black appearance, ideal for dark coloured roofs. The cells are monocrystalline PERC.

We also used the event to showcase our new modules that incorporate larger cells, 166mm in diameter, and deliver up to 445W and 450W of power. Besides modules, we also promoted our integrated solutions such as TrinaPro, which is pitched at the utility-scale solar sector. TrinaPro integrates high output modules, appropriate to the installation, with smart PV controllers and trackers, smart inverters and digital cloud-based operations and maintenance (O&M) software.

Also on the side-lines of the show, we held customer workshops so we could share more information and knowledge about our products and integrated solutions. We value the opportunity to meet with our customers and learn from each other.
